Bogor, West Java — President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday delivered a briefing to 400 participants in the inaugural class of the Presidential Program for Future Leaders (P3MD), an initiative aimed at cultivating the next generation of leaders for Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises, or BUMN.
The session took place in Hambalang, West Java, and marked the formal launch of a leadership development program established by Mr. Prabowo in partnership with the sovereign investment agency Daya Anagata Nusantara, known as Danantara.
The program is designed not only to strengthen participants’ professional capabilities, but also to instill leadership character and a strong sense of integrity. It reflects Mr. Prabowo’s broader vision of improving governance within state-owned companies through the development of high-quality human capital.
Officials described the initiative as part of the president’s long-term effort to prepare a new cadre of executives capable of leading Indonesia’s strategic enterprises in an increasingly competitive global environment.
The curriculum emphasizes intellectual capacity, decision-making skills and a commitment to public service. Participants will undergo nine months of training divided into three phases.
The first phase consists of three months of character-building and discipline training. Participants will then spend four months at Danantara Corporate University studying management and strategic decision-making. The final phase includes a two-month internship at ministries, government institutions and state-owned enterprises.
Through the program, the government hopes to cultivate a new generation of BUMN leaders capable of driving corporate transformation and strengthening Indonesia’s future competitiveness.
Highly Competitive Selection Process
One participant, Zhirazzi Dimas Prasetyo of PT Bank Negara Indonesia, or BNI, said he was proud to be selected for the program.
“I feel honored to be among the 400 participants chosen,” he said.
Mr. Zhirazzi noted that the selection process was highly competitive, with approximately 6,000 applicants ultimately narrowed to 400 finalists.
He added that President Prabowo’s remarks on the importance of ideological conviction left the strongest impression during the briefing in Hambalang.
Another participant, Erlin Shofiana of PT Pupuk Indonesia, said she was enthusiastic about joining the initiative, describing it as an important platform for leadership development and the strengthening of Indonesia’s human resources.
“We hope the program continues to be guided toward achieving the outcomes envisioned by the President,” she said.
Aizna Syachkalita, a participant from PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, said she believed the program reflected a long-term national strategy aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s self-reliance through the development of exceptional human capital.
