Six government offices and dozens of houses in Regency, , Indonesia were burned by a group of peoples, Sunday (13/11/2022) early morning.

The arson was triggered by a traffic accident which a five-year-old child died.

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Senior Commissioner AM Kamal, said that the attack and arson by a group of mobs occurred on Sunday (13/11/2022) in the early morning at around 01.00 WIT.

“When the police were on guard after the attack incident in the afternoon, suddenly a crowd of hundreds of people came to attack the police,” he said.

In the action, six government buildings were burned.

Kiosks and houses of residents in Ekimanida Village, Dogiyai Regency, Central Papua, which is located on the Trans Nabire-Enarotali Road, were also burned by the mob.

Kamal added that apart from residents' homes and government offices, two members of the Dogiay Police Station were also victims.

“Brigadier Muhammad Tahir and Brigadier Wahyudi Eka Ramadhani were hit by arrows. Both are currently still undergoing treatment,” he said.

As of Sunday afternoon, the security situation in Dogiyai Regency began to gradually become conducive.

“The police are still on standby at several points in anticipation of follow-up actions,” said Kamal.

A group of mobs became angry and carried out anarchistic actions and attacked drivers, residents and burned several residents' houses, two trucks and a government office in Dogiyai Regency. ***
