With unyielding determination, Paragliding Coach Asgaf Umar is gearing up for the National Sports Week (PON) Aceh-Sumut XXI, aiming to secure outstanding achievements for Central Sulawesi.
Coach Asgaf Umar is committed to surpassing the accomplishments of the previous PON in Papua 2021, where he and his athletes brought home a bronze medal.
Looking ahead, Coach Asgaf Umar has set his sights on clinching a gold medal in paragliding at the upcoming PON XXI in Aceh-Sumut.
“I have instilled a strong resolve in our athletes that we must share the same vision, optimism, and ambition to win the gold medal. With hard work and prayers, I am confident we can achieve it,” declared Asgaf with burning enthusiasm during a training session with his athletes at Bukit Bunti, Marawola District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, on Thursday (20/6/2024).
At the same venue, paragliding athlete Maxwell Benen shared his positive experience of undergoing training at the Regional Training Center with military-like discipline.
“Although initially shocked, after three weeks, the camaraderie, discipline, and solidarity have grown stronger. The structured routine from morning to night has significantly boosted our progress, and with our champion mentality, we are optimistic about winning the gold medal,” he stated confidently.

The Central Sulawesi paragliding team will be strengthened by eight athletes, consisting of five men and three women.
