A consortium lead by PT Kanadevia Corporation together with Kirkheaton Ltd and a Japanese Gas company has been awarded a grant by the Japanese Government to advance feasability studies for processing municipal waste into circular economic products such as biogas & fertiliser in Palu City, Central Sulawesi.
“The Japanese government has approved a subsidy of the feasibility study for the Biogas Project in Palu, which gives us the tremendous momentum to materialize the project,” said Aono Yasukazu, Operations Director of PT Kanadevia Indonesia, in Palu on Friday.
Kanavia Corporation was founded in 1934 in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan. The company’s capitalization is estimated at US$304 billion. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
He continued, explaining that to ensure the success of the project, Kanadevia is partnering with several companies, including Kirkheaton Co. Ltd. a Japanese consultant and a Japanese gas company.
The Palu City Government, led by Palu Mayor Hadianto Rasyid, held a follow-up meeting on the Biogas project cooperation at the Mayor’s Office. Accompanying the meeting were Deputy Mayor of Palu Imelda Liliana Muhidin, Palu City Secretary Irmayanti Petalolo, and relevant technical agencies.
Meanwhile, representatives from the consortium included Aono Yasukazu, Operations Director of PT Kanadevia Indonesia, and John Sliwowski, Head of the Kirkheaton Ltd Representative Office for Indonesia.
During the meeting, investors sought support from the Palu City Government, including the availability of data on industrial and non-industrial waste production from Palu City and nearby regencies.
Meanwhile, Palu Mayor Hadianto Rasyid emphasized his readiness to support any investor’s needs during the FS phase.
“We hope the FS can be completed as soon as possible, and we will proceed with the signing of the Biogas construction cooperation agreement,” he said.
Furthermore, discussions are already underway with the Palu City Government over two potential sites for the Biogas project.
