The Ladang Pertiwi Motor Ship has reportedly sunk in the Makassar Strait. This ship is reported to be carrying around 43 passengers along with the crew. The South Sulawesi Basarnas Office has now deployed KN SAR Kamajaya to find the location of the sinking of the ship.
Head of South Sulawesi Basarnas Office Djunaidi said the ship was carrying as many as 43 passengers including crew members who departed from Paotere Port, Makassar to Kalmas Island, Pangkep Regency, on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at around 03.30 AM.
“This ship is suspected to have run out of fuel in the Makassar Strait, so it sank. At that time the weather was bad around the South Sulawesi area,” Djunaidi said, Saturday (28/5/2022).
After receiving the report, said Djunaidi, he immediately mobilized a number of SAR personnel to search for the location of the sinking of the ship using KN SAR Kamajaya.
“The team has dispatched a total of 40 people, consisting of 24 crew members, 12 rescuers and 4 SAR potential person to look for passengers on the ship that is thought to have sunk in the Makassar Strait,” he explained.
Currently, said Djunaidi, about seven passengers were rescued by Tug Boat Sabang 25 at around 03.30 WITA.
“Seven passengers were rescued and currently on their way to Banjarmasin. Meanwhile, there were 9 passengers brought by TB Max and 1 person brought by TB Cipta 2002. Incidentally, the ship was heading to Morowali and is expected to stop at Tanakeke to drop the victim,” he explained. .
However, said Djunaidi, he is still trying to contact the TB Max and TB Cipta 2002 ships, because currently the two ships cannot be contacted to find out the identity of the rescued passengers.
